Founder of Hiranyavarna. I build the software, and I answer the support email.

Professional Invoicing came first, in 2016, for people who bill for their time and need invoices out fast — often from a job site, often with no signal. Hiranyavarna followed in 2017 as the company around it, and Professional Invoicing has been running ever since — ten years this year.

Spheyas is much newer, from 2026, for businesses that need the books as well as the invoices, with the option to hand the monthly close to us.

I studied Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at UC Berkeley, and the habit started there. With a classmate I built rockmyMT, which collected more than 3,000 past midterms, finals and solutions from across the university — English to Nuclear Engineering — and gave them to students free. The material already existed; it was just scattered across a dozen departmental exam banks and hard to reach. That is more or less the same instinct behind both products now: the numbers are already in the business, someone just has to make them legible.

Before either product, in 2013, I built LocoPari, a local-deals site for shops across Pune, Nashik and Mumbai — much the same businesses I write software for now, and where a good deal of what I know about how they actually bill came from.

Away from the screen it is usually a racquet — tennis, squash or badminton, and table tennis, which I played at state level in India.
